General information

Location and Area

Denmark is located in northern Europe, bordering the Baltic Sea and the North Sea, on a peninsula north of Germany. It covers an area of 43.094 km2, with 10% forests and woodland, 60% arable land, 5% permanent pastures and 25% of other land.

Terrain

Low and flat to gently rolling plains. Lowest point: Lammefjord -7 m. Highest point: Ejer Bavnehoj 173 m

Climate

Temperate; humid and overcast; mild, windy winters and cool summers.

Hunting

The main game species are Pheasant, Mallard, Wood pigeon, Hare, Roe deer, Rook, Eider duck, Crow, Grey partridge, Red fox and Magpie.

Hunters

There are around 171.264 hunters in Denmark who pay the annual game hunting fee (i.e. game hunting license). A total of 3,19 percent of Denmark's population hold a game hunting license ( 3,97 pr. km2 ).
