General information

Location and Area

Sweden is located in northern Europe, bordering the Baltic Sea, Gulf of Bothnia, Kattegat, and Skagerrak, between Finland and Norway. It covers an area of 449.964 km2, with 68% forests and woodland, 7% arable land, 1% permanent pastures and 24% of other land.

Terrain

Mostly flat or gently rolling lowlands; mountains in west. Lowest point: Baltic Sea 0 m. Highest point: Kebnekaise 2.111 m

Climate

Temperate in south with cold, cloudy winters and cool, partly cloudy summers; subarctic in north.

There are around 310.000 hunters in Sweden who pay the annual game hunting fee (i.e. game hunting license). A total of 3,48 percent of Sweden's population hold a game hunting license ( 0,69 pr. km2 ).
